Client: Scottish Schools Snowsports Association and Mintra Group
Project: To enhance and maximise the team spirit for the various selected school's athletes
Objective: To build a cohesive and dynamic athletics team consisting of students from schools across Scotland
Anticipated Challenges:
No sponsor had come forward to support the Scottish team – children from different areas and backgrounds who needed team colours to bring them together - and kit that would stand up to harsh winter conditions.
Strategy:
GRM approached Mintra Group and AMG Group. Mintra Group are leading providers of HR and management training and understand the importance of outstanding team dynamics and AMG Group are one of the UK’s leading outdoor companies and understand the importance of the right clothing for harsh conditions. By thinking outside of the box and approaching companies outside of the sports industry, GRM were able to initiate excellent partnerships.
We also organised a PR specialist and photographer to travel with the team and report back on activities. Scotland were the only team to have this advantage.
Go-Live:
Sponsorship was achieved, and the team were equipped with top of the range Rossignol alpine ski clothing for all competitors, teachers and coaches, which boosted their confidence and team spirit.
Outcome:
Neil McQuoid, editor of Racer Ready Ski Magazine said, “The Scottish athletes looked amazing in their kit and were the envy of every other nation. They walked into the opening ceremony as a confident team”.
Eilidh Ryan, Scottish Schools Athlete said, “It (the kit) really bring us together” and teammate Taby Allen agreed, “ours is the best… we look so uniform!”
The team achieved the best results in the World School Ski Championship in 6 years competing against strong alpine nations such as France and Austria.
